These terms govern your use of mountainpeak.top. By reading or relying on anything published here you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.

1. What this site is — and what it is not

MountainPeak publishes route surveys: distances, elevation profiles, water points, bivouac notes and hazard logs recorded on foot on the dates shown. It is a record of what we observed, not an instruction to follow. Every route description is informational only.

Nothing here is medical advice, and nothing here is safety advice. We are not a guiding service, we do not provide instruction, and we do not supervise anyone on a mountain. If you are unsure whether a route is within your ability, hire a qualified guide or choose something easier.

2. Outdoor risk

Walking, scrambling and mountaineering are activities with inherent risk of injury and death. Rockfall, river crossings, avalanche, exposure, hypothermia, heat illness, altitude, wildlife and simple falls cause serious accidents every year on routes far easier than some of those described here. Conditions change constantly: a path recorded as clear in June can be washed out in July, a stream recorded as seasonal can be impassable after rain, and a permit system recorded as open can be closed by the time you arrive.

You are responsible for your own decisions. That includes checking current conditions, closures, weather and land-management rules before you go, carrying suitable equipment, telling someone where you are going, and turning back when the situation changes. Do not rely on this site as your only source of information.

3. Accuracy and no warranty

We record carefully, but we do not guarantee that anything here is accurate, complete or current. Distances and elevation gains are measured approximations and vary with the instrument used and the line walked. Deliberate simplification is used throughout so that a route description stays readable; trails with junctions, alternatives and unmapped user paths are described by their main line only.

The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be available, uninterrupted or error-free.

4. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MountainPeak and the people who write for it are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or special loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site — including injury, death, loss of property, or wasted travel. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid to use the site, which is nothing.

5. Intellectual property

The text, illustrations, elevation plots, contour plates, layout and code on this site are the property of MountainPeak and are protected by copyright. You may read, print and share a page for personal, non-commercial trip-planning purposes, and you may quote short extracts with a visible link back to the source page.

You may not republish a survey in whole or in substantial part, scrape the site to rebuild the dataset, feed the content into a service that republishes it, or use the content or the elevation plates commercially without written permission. Place names, route names and the names of land-management agencies are not claimed by us and remain the property of their respective owners.

6. Third-party links and content

We link to permit systems, park authorities, weather services, transport operators and other external sites because they are useful. We do not control them and we are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy, or the way they handle your data. Following a link means you accept that site's own terms.

This site is supported by advertising served by third parties, including Google AdSense. We do not select individual advertisements and we do not endorse the products or services advertised.

7. Acceptable use

Do not attempt to disrupt the site, probe it for vulnerabilities without written permission, scrape it at a rate that degrades service for others, or use it in a way that breaks any applicable law.

8. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms at any time. The revised version takes effect when it is published on this page, and the "Last updated" date will change accordingly. It is your responsibility to check this page if you want to know the current terms.
